Prime Minister Modi Invites Public Input for Independence Day Speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to citizens, inviting them to share their thoughts and suggestions for his upcoming Independence Day speech. Through platforms like MyGov.in and the NaMo app, he aims to engage the public in shaping the address. This year marks his 12th consecutive speech from the Red Fort, a tradition that highlights the importance of public participation in national discourse. Modi's previous speeches have addressed significant themes, including India's development goals and social issues. As the nation prepares for this important day, the Prime Minister's call for input reflects a commitment to inclusivity and dialogue.

Public Engagement Ahead of Independence Day

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon citizens across the nation to share their thoughts and suggestions for this year's Independence Day address. In a post on X, he encouraged the public to express their ideas through open forums on MyGov.in and the NaMo app. Modi stated, "As we approach this year's Independence Day, I am eager to hear from my fellow Indians! What topics or ideas would you like to see reflected in this year's speech? Please share your thoughts on the open platforms of MyGov and the NaMo app."

Traditionally, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi on August 15 each year and addresses the nation. Last year, during India's 78th Independence Day, Modi's speech focused on the theme 'Developed India @2047', outlining the government's vision for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. He discussed several significant issues, including self-reliant India, simplifying life, the role of women in the Air Force, tackling nepotism in politics, the safety of Bangladeshi Hindus, the idea of a uniform civil code, and India's aspirations to host the 2036 Olympics.

Continuing formal traditions, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat and received a 'national salute' after hoisting the flag. Last year, the Punjab Regiment's military band, led by Subedar Major Rajinder Singh, provided the salute, which included a JCO and 25 other ranks. This year, Modi will deliver his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort for the 12th consecutive time, making him only the third Indian Prime Minister to achieve this milestone after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
