Prime Minister Modi Honors Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His 101st Birth Anniversary

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the occasion of his 101st birth anniversary, emphasizing that Vajpayee's character, contributions, and leadership will continue to guide the nation towards comprehensive development.
Vajpayee served as India's Prime Minister three times between 1996 and 2004.
In a post on the social media platform 'X', Modi expressed, 'I respectfully salute former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who resides in the hearts of the citizens. He dedicated his entire life to good governance and nation-building.'
The Prime Minister remarked, 'Vajpayee will always be remembered not only as a powerful orator but also as a brilliant poet. His personality, achievements, and leadership will remain a guiding light for the country's multifaceted development.'
Modi noted that Vajpayee's birth anniversary serves as a special opportunity for everyone to draw inspiration from his life. He highlighted that the former Prime Minister's conduct, grace, ideological firmness, and commitment to prioritizing national interest set a standard for Indian politics.
He added, 'Vajpayee demonstrated through his life that excellence is established not by position but by conduct, which in turn guides society.' Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior and passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi. The government observes his birth anniversary as 'Good Governance Day.'
