Modi's Strategic Journey to Europe

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set off for a week-long trip to France and Slovakia. During this visit, he will participate in the G-7 summit and engage in discussions with global leaders on various bilateral and international issues.

Before his departure, Modi expressed that France holds a significant position in India's strategic vision, while his trip to Slovakia marks a historic milestone that will further enhance the growing ties between the two nations.

Historic First Visit to Slovakia

This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993. Modi stated, 'France has a special place in India's strategic outlook. Earlier this year, President Emmanuel Macron visited India, and we elevated our relationship to a special global strategic partnership.'

He added, 'When I meet President Macron in Nice, we will review the progress made since February and outline the next steps for cooperation. I am also eager to discuss significant global issues of mutual interest.'

Engagements in Slovakia and G-7 Participation

The Prime Minister expressed enthusiasm about discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava. He noted that India's participation in the G-7 summit, hosted in Évian, reflects the trust of partner countries in India and its growing global role.

He remarked, 'This is the eighth consecutive G-7 summit where India has been invited. At the G-7, India will not only voice its perspectives but also represent the aspirations of the Global South.'
