Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Paris, marking the final leg of his visit to France and Slovakia. Upon his arrival from Évian on Wednesday, he received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora, who greeted him with traditional drums and enthusiasm. During this visit, he highlighted the significance of the strategic partnership between India and France for global progress and prosperity.

Earlier on Wednesday, Modi participated in the G7 summit held in Évian, where India was invited as a guest country.


Significance of the Visit

This visit to Paris is the concluding segment of Prime Minister Modi's trip to France and Slovakia. He expressed his pride in the efforts of the Indian community to strengthen ties between India and France through a social media post, stating, 'I have just arrived in Paris, where the Indian diaspora warmly welcomed me. I take pride in their efforts to bring India and France closer.' He further emphasized that the India-France partnership is crucial for global advancement.


Engagements in Paris

In Paris, Modi is set to engage with French President Emmanuel Macron at the leading European technology and innovation event, 'VivaTech 2026,' and will also interact with the Indian community. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, VivaTech is Europe's premier technology and startup event, and this year's Indian pavilion will be the largest, showcasing the growing collaboration between Indian and European innovation ecosystems.


Indian Community in France

The Indian diaspora in mainland France numbers approximately 119,000, while over 350,000 individuals of Indian origin reside in French territories outside the mainland. Before departing for Paris, Modi described his participation in the G7 summit as 'meaningful,' noting that it provided him with an opportunity to present India's perspectives and initiatives in governance and policymaking.
