New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes to the nation in celebration of Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival observed across various regions of India, each with its unique customs.
This festival signifies the Sun's transition into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makar) and is recognized as a mid-winter harvest celebration.
In a message shared on X, Modi expressed, "This sacred occasion of Sankranti is celebrated in various parts of the country according to local customs and traditions. I pray to Lord Surya for everyone’s happiness, prosperity, and excellent health."
He further added, "Heartfelt greetings on the auspicious occasion of Uttarayan! May this sacred festival of Makar Sankranti fill your life with happiness, and may everyone be blessed with good health and well-being."
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of unity, stating, "May this joyful celebration also strengthen bonds of togetherness and usher in prosperity and positivity for all."
Additionally, Modi conveyed his greetings for Magh Bihu, a festival celebrated in Assam and parts of Northeast India.
He remarked, "Magh Bihu celebrates the joy of harvest, abundance, and togetherness. May this festival bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to every home."
Concluding his message, he said, "May the spirit of gratitude and harmony continue to guide us towards a brighter and more prosperous future."
