Prime Minister Modi Celebrates Global Tiger Day with Conservation Commitment

New Delhi, July 29: On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his best wishes to wildlife lovers while emphasizing the government's dedication to tiger preservation through scientific methods and community involvement.
Global Tiger Day, recognized internationally, is celebrated every year on July 29 to promote awareness regarding tiger conservation, safeguard their natural habitats, and tackle the issue of dwindling wild populations. This event was initiated during the Tiger Summit in Saint Petersburg in 2010.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, "Warm greetings to all wildlife enthusiasts on Global Tiger Day. India takes pride in hosting nearly 70 percent of the world's tiger population."
He highlighted that India's approach to tiger conservation is rooted in "our long-standing tradition of coexisting with nature, driven by the collective resolve of our citizens."
"We reaffirm our dedication to science-driven conservation, community engagement, and sustainable development that bolsters tiger protection," the Prime Minister stated.
He also commended the efforts of forest officials and scientists in the protection of tigers.
"The commitment and hard work of our forest staff, scientists, and conservationists have been crucial in safeguarding tigers. In this regard, India is devoted to empowering local communities and minimizing human-wildlife conflicts," PM Modi remarked.
As per government data, India currently hosts the largest population of wild tigers globally, representing almost 70 percent of all wild tigers.
"This achievement is a testament to years of consistent policy support, scientific management, and community involvement, establishing India as a leader in global tiger conservation," officials noted.
They further mentioned that by protecting tigers and their habitats, the Indian government is "enhancing biodiversity conservation, improving ecological security, and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat through sustainable development."
The All India Tiger Estimation (2022) reported India's tiger population at 3,682, covering 20 states and surveying over 641,000 kilometers on foot.
