Prime Minister Modi Awarded Indonesia's Highest Honor During Visit

During his recent visit to Indonesia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the prestigious 'Bintang Jasa Utama', the country's highest honor. This accolade, presented by President Prabowo Subianto, symbolizes the deep-rooted ties between India and Indonesia. Modi's visit aims to enhance India's 'Act East Policy' and strengthen the Indo-Pacific strategy. With a warm welcome at Istana Merdeka, Modi expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of this trip in advancing the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This marks a significant step in fostering cooperation and mutual growth between the two nations.
 

Modi Receives Prestigious Indonesian Award

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Indonesia's highest accolade, the 'Bintang Jasa Utama' of the Republic of Indonesia. This prestigious medal was presented to him by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The Prime Minister's Office shared on social media, stating, 'This morning, I was bestowed with Indonesia's highest honor with great affection. This recognition belongs to millions of Indians and reflects the sentiments of the Indonesian people, as well as the historical and heartfelt ties between India and Indonesia.' Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Prabowo, the Indonesian government, and its citizens.


A Grand Welcome for PM Modi

Upon his arrival for discussions with President Prabowo Subianto, PM Modi received a warm welcome. This visit marks the first phase of his three-nation tour, aimed at strengthening India's 'Act East Policy', the 'MAHASAGAR' vision, and commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. Modi thanked the Indonesian government for the warm reception at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta, where he also signed the guest book during his meeting with President Subianto. According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, this trip is a significant step towards advancing the 'India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.'


Strengthening Bilateral Relations

PM Modi noted that this would be his first bilateral visit following the elevation of bilateral relations. This trip comes after President Subianto's visit to India, where he participated as the chief guest in the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025. Before departing from New Delhi, Modi stated that his journey to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand would further reinforce India's 'Act East Policy', the 'MAHASAGAR' vision, and the approach towards a 'free and open Indo-Pacific'. The 'MAHASAGAR' initiative, which stands for 'Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security Across the Regions', embodies India's vision for security and development across all regions.
