Introduction of a New Task Force
In a significant move aimed at improving the transparency, security, and reliability of the country's examination system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an important announcement. A high-level task force, led by Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys, has been established to implement structural and technical reforms in examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This information was shared by the Prime Minister through a video message on his Instagram account. He emphasized that the government is committed to fully implementing the recommendations of this task force to ensure the use of cutting-edge technology in the examination system.
Context of the Announcement
This announcement comes just a day after the conclusion of a 36-day protest led by the Cockroach Public Party (CAZPA), which ended with the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The task force will comprise a diverse group of experts from various fields. Alongside Nilekani, other members include former ISRO Director S. Somnath, former Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, IIT Chennai Director V. Kamakoti, former Education Secretary Anita Karwal, and logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena.
Government's Commitment to Educational Reforms
In response to this development, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that there will be no compromises when it comes to the future of the nation's youth. Following Pradhan's resignation, Joshi has been given additional responsibilities in the Education Ministry. He reiterated the government's commitment to advancing technology-based reforms to make national-level examinations more transparent, reliable, and secure. Earlier on Sunday, he also met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, making this meeting significant in light of proposed legislation aimed at preventing question paper leaks.
Nilekani's Role and Future Steps
Nilekani played a crucial role in the successful implementation of the Aadhaar project and was instrumental in establishing India's digital public infrastructure. Modi stated, "A high-level task force has been formed under the leadership of Nandan Nilekani for examination reforms." He assured that the government would work on the task force's recommendations to ensure a flawless and completely secure examination system. The task force is expected to help reshape NTA examinations from a technological perspective and implement structural reforms in the examination system.

He noted that those who have compromised students' futures have been sent to jail, and the government plans to introduce a new bill in Parliament on Monday to establish stringent laws against examination paper leaks. He stated that the task force has been established with all these aspects in mind, focusing specifically on examination reforms.
