Prime Minister's Address on NEET-UG Exam Leak

In response to the widespread anxiety among millions of students and parents regarding the NEET-UG exam paper leak controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a significant video message to the nation. He announced that the central government is set to introduce a historic and stringent bill in Parliament next week aimed at combating exam-related fraud and organized crime.


During his video address, Modi stated that the draft of the bill will be discussed in a cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday, where the proposed legislation will be finalized. He mentioned, “The cabinet will deliberate on the issue of the exam paper leak and determine the next steps based on the suggestions from council members.”


Modi further elaborated, “When the second week of the Parliament's monsoon session begins on Monday, we will present a bill that includes strict measures against exam paper leaks, and we will strive to pass it as soon as possible.” He acknowledged that the issue of paper leaks is not trivial and is extremely distressing for millions of students and their families.


He emphasized that since the allegations of the NEET paper leak emerged approximately two and a half months ago, several decisive actions have been taken. “The culprits have been apprehended and are currently in jail. Our primary responsibility was to ensure that students do not lose a year. It was essential to conduct the exam promptly. Utilizing all available resources, the government ensured that 2.2 million students could retake the exam,” he stated.


Modi noted that the results of the re-conducted NEET for medical course admissions were announced on July 19, bringing joy to successful candidates across the country. He expressed that he is not one to be satisfied with just this outcome. “That’s why I have instructed the relevant authorities to establish fast-track courts. These courts have already been set up,” he added.
