President Murmu Celebrates Indian Athletes' Success at 2026 Asian Games

President Droupadi Murmu congratulated Indian athletes Gulveer Singh, Parul Chaudhary, and Vithya Ramraj for their outstanding performances at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. Singh secured a silver medal in the men's 1500m, while Chaudhary and Ramraj won bronze in their respective events. Celebrating Medal Winners

On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu extended her congratulations to Indian athletes Gulveer Singh, Parul Chaudhary, and Vithya Ramraj for their impressive performances at the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya.


Athletic Achievements

Gulveer Singh earned his second silver medal in the men's 1500m event, finishing with a time of 3:36.72. Parul Chaudhary also claimed her second bronze medal in the women's 5000m, clocking in at 15:14.61. Vithya Ramraj secured bronze in the women's 400m hurdles, setting a national record of 54.75 seconds.


President Murmu's Praise

In a message shared on X, President Murmu commended Gulveer Singh for his silver medal in the men's 1500m, highlighting his personal best and previous silver in the 10,000m. She expressed her heartfelt congratulations, stating, "Your achievements are commendable, and I wish you continued success in the future."


The President also recognized Parul Chaudhary for her remarkable feat of winning two medals in consecutive days, saying, "Congratulations on your bronze in the women's 5000m. This is a significant accomplishment that should inspire you to reach even greater heights."


Regarding Vithya Ramraj, President Murmu praised her for breaking the national record and achieving a personal best, stating, "Your performance will motivate younger athletes to strive for excellence."


Race Highlights

Gulveer Singh's silver medal in the men's 1500m came after he led for most of the race but was surpassed by Japan's Kazuto Iizawa, who won gold with a Games record.


Parul Chaudhary's bronze in the women's 5000m saw her maintain pace with the leaders until the final lap, where Winfred Yavi and Nozomi Tanaka took gold and silver, respectively.


Vithya Ramraj's bronze in the women's 400m hurdles was marked by her breaking the long-held national record she shared with PT Usha. UAE's Mariam Kareem won gold with a Games record of 54.31 seconds, while Kazakhstan's Adelina Zems took silver.
