President Droupadi Murmu Set to Make History with Submarine Voyage
Historic Submarine Voyage Planned
New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a submarine voyage from Karwar Harbour in Karnataka on December 28, as announced by her office.
At 67 years old, she will become only the second Indian head of state to undertake such a journey.
The late former president A P J Abdul Kalam previously completed a submarine sortie on February 13, 2006, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Murmu has already made history as the first Indian President to fly in two different fighter jets of the Indian Air Force, having flown a Rafale on October 29 this year and a Sukhoi 30 MKI in 2023.
This undersea adventure is part of her four-day tour that includes visits to Goa, Karnataka, and Jharkhand, starting Saturday.
According to a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, she will depart for Goa on the evening of December 27.
On December 28, she will conduct the submarine sortie from Karwar Harbour, Karnataka.
Additionally, Murmu will participate in the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Monday.
On the same day, she will also address the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT, Jamshedpur.
On December 30, the President will speak at the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh, Kartik Jatra, in Gumla, Jharkhand.
