Essential Arrangements for Pilgrims

Gaurav Kumar, the District Magistrate of Chamoli, announced on Saturday that the administration is making all necessary arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra, which is set to commence on April 23. He confirmed that accommodations, drinking water, sanitation facilities, electricity, and parking will be provided for the convenience of the pilgrims.

Support for Local Businesses

The District Magistrate further mentioned that commercial gas cylinders are being distributed to all hotels and restaurants in the area, along with alternative fuel sources to manage the expected influx of visitors. He stated, 'We are ensuring that local hotels and restaurants have access to commercial gas cylinders and alternative fuel options.'

Infrastructure Improvements

Additionally, repair work on the Badrinath highway is ongoing, with measures being taken to address landslide-prone areas to ensure a smooth journey for the pilgrims. Kumar noted that the highway was inspected in February, and road construction is currently being carried out by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Border Roads Organization (BRO), with the aim of completing all projects before the pilgrimage begins.

Emergency Preparedness

On Thursday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the need for quick identification of sensitive areas and the deployment of necessary resources. He called for improved coordination between the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local authorities, as well as the establishment of a 24/7 control room and helpline services for timely emergency responses. The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand will officially start on April 19 with the opening of the Yamunotri and Gangotri doors, followed by the Kedarnath and Badrinath doors on April 22 and 23, respectively.
