Chamba Gears Up for the International Minjar Fair 2026
Chamba, India - A comprehensive review meeting was convened at the Savings Bhawan in Chamba, led by Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, to assess the preparations for the upcoming International Minjar Fair 2026. Scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 2, 2026, the fair will be hosted at Chaugan No. 1, adhering to traditional practices.
The discussions covered various aspects including cultural events, budget management, invitation cards, souvenirs, transportation logistics, parking arrangements, sports activities, maintenance of Chaugan, and essential services like water, electricity, sanitation, and health care. Additionally, repairs at the Art Centre and Manjari Garden were also on the agenda.
During the meeting, Speaker Pathania highlighted the significance of the Minjar Fair, describing it as a historic and globally recognized festival that embodies the identity and pride of Chamba. He stressed the importance of showcasing the district's rich cultural heritage and fostering social unity. Pathania urged officials to maintain the cultural integrity of the fair and ensure that this year's celebrations are smooth, peaceful, and enjoyable. He called on all departments to diligently fulfill their roles to guarantee effective management and to provide ample opportunities for local Himachali artists.
MLA Neeraj Nayyar proposed the inclusion of a Saras Mela during the fair and suggested looking into temporary parking options near Balu (Bhagot). Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra provided a detailed update on the progress of various sub-committees, noting that eight cultural evenings will be held at the Art Centre, with seven concluding by 10 PM and the final event extending until midnight, as permitted by the Department of Environment, Science & Technology in Shimla.
Speaker Pathania extended early greetings to the residents of Chamba in anticipation of the fair, while Deputy Commissioner Mehra assured that the collaboration between the administration, officials, and the public would ensure the event's success.
The meeting saw participation from MLA Neeraj Nayyar, APMC Chairman Lalit Thakur, Haj Committee Chairman Dildar Ali Batt, District Congress Committee President Surjit Bharmauri, State Congress General Secretary Yashwant Khanna, Acting Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra, Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani, SDM Priyanshu Rabati, AC to DC Manmohan Singh, Medical College Principal Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Singh, PWD Superintendent Engineer Jeet Singh Thakur, Jal Shakti Superintendent Engineer Rajesh Mongra, Electricity Superintendent Engineer Rajiv Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jalam Singh Bhardwaj, Chamba Vyapar Mandal President Virender Mahajan, along with conveners and members of various committees and departmental officers.
