Preparations Intensify for Upcoming Legislative Assembly Vote Counting in Morigaon

Morigaon, April 29: As the vote counting for the Legislative Assembly elections approaches, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anurag Goel visited Morigaon district on Tuesday to evaluate the preparations for this crucial event.
During his visit, Goel inspected the counting center established at Morigaon College and assessed the overall arrangements made for the process.
He closely examined the strong room and counting halls, ensuring that security measures and infrastructure were up to standard. Goel instructed officials to finalize all arrangements in strict accordance with the Election Commission's guidelines.
Highlighting the importance of vigilance, he urged the officials to adhere to all protocols during the counting process.
Accompanying the CEO were district commissioner and election officer Anamika Tewari, senior superintendent of police Prakash Sonowal, along with other election officials.
In the meantime, the district administration has ramped up preparations to facilitate a smooth counting process on May 4.
Training sessions for personnel involved in counting duties began on Tuesday at the Pobitora Hut Auditorium in Morigaon town. The first phase included training for 60 counting supervisors, 60 counting assistants, 60 MTS and grade IV staff, 80 personnel for postal ballot counting, and 60 micro observers.
Officials announced that training for compilation officers, compilation assistants, and transit and sealing teams is scheduled for Wednesday, with a second phase of training for counting personnel set for April 30.
The counting of votes will commence at 8 am on May 4 at Morigaon College's counting center.
Three counting halls have been designated for the 52-Jagiroad (SC), 53-Laharighat, and 54-Morigaon constituencies, each equipped with 14 tables. A total of 13 candidates are contesting across these three constituencies.
Goel also visited Jorhat Government Boys’ HS and MP School and Jorhat Government Girls’ HS and MP School, where counting centers and strong rooms have been established. He reviewed the arrangements and security measures at both locations.
District commissioner Jay Shivani and senior superintendent of police Subhrajyoti Bora, along with all returning officers, were present during this visit.
