Injury Forces Change in India's World Cup Squad
Leg spinner Prema Rawat has been called up to replace the injured Shreyanka Patil in the Indian team for the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Patil, 23, suffered an ankle injury while fielding during a match against the Netherlands on Wednesday, leading to her withdrawal from the tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup has approved this change. Consequently, the Women's Selection Committee has included Prema Rawat in the squad for the remainder of the competition.
Prema Rawat's Impressive Track Record
Prema Rawat has previously represented India A, where she showcased her skills by taking eight wickets in five matches during the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. Additionally, she was the joint-leading wicket-taker during India A's tour of Australia last year, securing seven wickets across three matches.
