Prasoon Joshi, a renowned lyricist, author, and communication expert, has been appointed as the new chairman of Prasar Bharati, India's public service broadcaster. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced his appointment, highlighting that Joshi's extensive experience and creative vision will infuse new energy and direction into Prasar Bharati.



Joshi is a prominent figure in Indian literature, cinema, advertising, and public communication. His songs and writings on social issues have left a significant impact not only in cinema but also in society at large. His literary contributions have reshaped the identity of Indian media. Congratulating Joshi on his new role, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, "Under Prasoon Joshi's leadership, Prasar Bharati will gain a new creative voice and profound energy. Previously, Joshi served as the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, where he strengthened the certification process in collaboration with various sectors of the film industry. Additionally, he held a significant role as the chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific.
