BJP's Candidate Withdrawal Sparks Reactions
Jan Suraj Party has asserted that the BJP is intimidated by its founder, Prashant Kishor, following the party's decision to change its candidate for the Bankipur assembly by-election. In response, Kishor made a significant statement regarding the BJP's candidate withdrawal, emphasizing that no force can stand against the people's strength. He noted that while people previously fled from the BJP's influence, this marks a moment of justice as the BJP's candidate has retreated.
This reaction came after BJP's original candidate, Abhishek Kumar Sinha, withdrew his nomination just a day after filing, citing family reasons. During a press conference in Patna, Sinha expressed gratitude to the BJP for selecting him as the NDA candidate for the Bankipur assembly seat but stated that he could not contest the by-election due to personal matters.
On Tuesday, the BJP had announced Sinha, a leader from its youth wing, as the candidate for the Bankipur seat, which became vacant after the resignation of Nitin Naveen, the party's national president, following his election to the Rajya Sabha. The party has now nominated Neeraj Kumar Sinha to compete against Kishor in the by-election scheduled for July 30, with RJD's Rekha Kumari also in the race.
Prashant Kishor declared his candidacy for the Bankipur by-election on Sunday, framing the contest as a referendum on the performance of the BJP-led government in Bihar. Addressing party workers in Patna, the former political strategist urged the approximately four lakh voters in the constituency to vote for change.
