New Delhi, Aug 4: The recent victory of Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, in the Bankipur Assembly by-election has sparked significant reactions among political figures. Bihar Minister Ramkripal Yadav referred to the outcome as a “masterstroke.”

Yadav commended Kishor's campaign tactics but urged him to fulfill his commitments. He stated, “Prashant Kishor ji has truly executed a masterstroke; his strategy was exceptional. He has inspired great hope among the residents of Bankipur.”

However, he also expressed concern, saying, “I trust that you, Prashant Kishor ji, will deliver on your promises. Yet, your statements seem to change frequently. I heard you mention that you would bring development akin to Bengaluru, but now you suggest that won’t be the case…”

Implications for BJP and Future Elections

In a related comment, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad connected the by-election results to a broader political transformation, asserting that the BJP will continue to face electoral challenges. He remarked, “These by-election outcomes are not unexpected. We anticipate this trend will persist in future elections. The results clearly indicate that the BJP's dominance is waning.”

Prasad further noted that the BJP's decline began with the Ayodhya election results and forecasted a governmental shift in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, led by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. “In 2027, a PDA government will emerge under Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership, paving the way for progress in the state,” he added.

JD(U) Calls for Internal Review

Shyam Rajak, National General Secretary of JD(U), emphasized the need for a comprehensive review following the loss of the seat, urging the party to identify its grassroots shortcomings. “If the electorate was misled, we must acknowledge our own failings. A thorough review is essential,” Rajak stated.

He continued, “Simply holding a formal meeting is insufficient to evaluate the situation. We must engage with party workers for a detailed grassroots-level assessment. Only then can we understand the true circumstances and strategize to reclaim the lost seat.”

Kishor's Historic Win

Prashant Kishor's victory in the Bankipur by-election marks a significant milestone for the Jan Suraaj Party, representing its first electoral success. After an extensive counting process involving 31 rounds, Kishor garnered 63,203 votes, defeating BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha, who received 44,250 votes. RJD candidate Rekha Gupta came in third with 14,085 votes. Kishor's win was secured by a margin of 18,953 votes.

This result has significantly bolstered Kishor's political aspirations, establishing the Jan Suraaj Party as a noteworthy contender in Bihar's political landscape.
