This constituency was previously considered a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kishor triumphed over BJP's Neeraj Kumar by more than 18,000 votes, marking a substantial setback for the BJP, which has long held this seat, previously represented by party leader Nitin Nabin.
