Prashant Kishor Demands Judicial Inquiry into Alleged Police Encounter in Bhojpur
Prashant Kishor Meets Family of Deceased in Bhojpur
On Wednesday, Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraj Party, visited the family of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a 28-year-old man who was reportedly killed in a police encounter on June 17 in Bhojpur district. During his interaction with the media, Kishor emphasized the necessity for a judicial investigation into the incident, calling for accountability for both the perpetrators and those who issued the orders. He insisted that the inquiry should thoroughly examine the roles of all individuals involved.
In response to the alleged encounter, the Bharat Tiwari Struggle Committee organized a large gathering on Wednesday, warning that if their demands are not met, they will initiate widespread protests.
Upcoming Protests and Demands
A member of the Bharat Tiwari Struggle Committee mentioned in a conversation with the media that they expect around 100,000 participants at the proposed assembly, indicating a potential escalation of their movement. The member stated, "If arrests are not made by the time the gathering begins, we will surround the Bihar Assembly and block roads across the country." They warned that failure to take action against the accused could lead to intensified protests, including statewide demonstrations and road blockades.
Former Congress MLA Munna Tiwari also commented on the situation, noting that participation in the gathering would be voluntary and significant. He remarked that the turnout is expected to be large as no specific invitations were sent out, and emphasized the need for the arrest of the accused. Additionally, he called for a compensation of 1 crore rupees for the victim's family and for Bharat Tiwari to be honored as a martyr.
Plans for Nationwide Movement
Chandan Tiwari, the deceased's brother, stated that after the funeral, they plan to take their movement to the national capital. He urged the public to join them in their efforts. In a separate reaction from Saharsa, Roshan Anand, the director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, strongly criticized the police's actions and alleged misconduct during the encounter.
