Agartala, Apr 1: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the leader of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), expressed his ambition to establish a Greater Tipraland that would include regions from Bangladesh such as Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, and Khagrachhari, contingent on the unity of the Tiprasa community.

Speaking at a tribal council election rally in Gomati district's Silachari Motorstand, Debbarma stated, "Our Chakma and Mog communities reside in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, and Khagrachhari. If the Tiprasa people unite, I will work towards integrating these areas into Tripura to form Greater Tipraland."

He elaborated on the reasons behind TMP's decision not to partner with the BJP for the upcoming elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Debbarma revealed that the BJP proposed a division of 28 council seats, offering TMP only 14, which he promptly declined. He mentioned that he was assured of ample funding and significant portfolios if TMP collaborated with the BJP.

Despite receiving threats regarding potential splits within his party if a seat adjustment was not reached, Debbarma emphasized his commitment to advocating for the Tiprasa community.

"My political journey is not about financial gain but about ensuring dignity, rights, and a secure future for the Tiprasa people," he asserted.

He criticized Chief Minister Manik Saha for encouraging votes for the BJP to fulfill the Tripura Accord, stating, "Votes from the Tiprasa community should be sought only after guaranteeing their rights, future, employment opportunities, direct funding to the tribal council, Kokborok script, and respect."

Debbarma also called on voters to back TMP candidate Manindra Tripura, who is running in the Silachari-Manubankul constituency for the tribal council elections.

The concept of “Greater Tipraland” was introduced by Debbarma to extend Tripura's territory by incorporating parts of Bangladesh and Assam. This idea gained traction during the 2018 Assembly elections, contributing to the party's success in securing 13 out of 60 seats.
