Guwahati, Nov 6: A new online portal has been introduced for individuals interested in attending the final event of the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, scheduled for November 29 in New Delhi.

Participants who register on this platform will receive their electronic invitations starting November 12, allowing them to join the tribute to the iconic singer on his 100th birthday.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, once individuals register, they can download their e-invitation card from November 12. This card is essential for entry to the event, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Attendees are advised to arrive by 5 PM due to security protocols.

The portal will be accessible to people from outside Assam, including Assamese individuals living in New Delhi, other states, and even abroad.

“Given the Prime Minister's presence, all registrants will undergo police background checks. The registration portal will remain open until November 28, but if registrations exceed the venue's capacity, we may have to close it,” Sarma explained.

To register, individuals will need a mobile number for OTP verification. After completing the registration, they will receive an acknowledgment number that must be kept for reference.

The two-hour event will showcase performances from both national and regional artists, including Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Kalpana Patowary, Angaraag Mahanta, and Kavita Krishnamurti.

“The event will feature a collaboration of singers from Assam and across the nation, including Tarali Sarma, Mousumi Saharia, Sankhuraj Konwar, and Dikshu Sarma,” Sarma added.

Numerous dignitaries, including foreign representatives, state governors, chief ministers, and union ministers, are also anticipated to attend.

Individuals connected to Hazarika will receive invitations, and a committee of Cabinet Ministers has been established to manage the event's logistics.

The concluding program will also reunite the 1,000 singers who participated in the inaugural celebrations, performing songs like 'Manuhe Manuhor Babe' and 'We Are in the Same Boat, Brother' alongside national and regional artists.

Sarma mentioned that the Education Department has invited 1,000 college students to the event, for whom a special train will be arranged.

“We have organized a special train for these students. The venue can accommodate 5,000 attendees. We will also invite various groups, organizations, and political parties, along with 3,000 to 4,000 fans of Bhupen Hazarika,” he stated.

Additionally, the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Award will be presented to veteran singer Usha Mangeshkar by Prime Minister Modi.

“We will honor Usha Mangeshkar with the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Award, which she accepted yesterday. PM Modi will present the award to her,” he concluded.
