Chennai, June 22: C. Joseph Vijay, the actor-turned-politician, celebrated his 52nd birthday on Monday, marking his first birthday since taking office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. To commemorate this special day, functionaries from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) organized various initiatives including special prayers in temples, 'annadanam' programs, blood donation drives, and welfare activities throughout the state, turning Vijay’s birthday into a grand celebration.

The festivities have ignited celebrations across Tamil Nadu, with party members, supporters, and well-wishers hosting special events and welfare programs in numerous districts.

Vijay's journey from a beloved actor in Tamil cinema to the Chief Minister is considered one of the most extraordinary political transformations in recent history.

He officially entered the political arena on February 2, 2024, when he announced the formation of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which quickly garnered significant attention statewide.

After establishing the party, Vijay held two major political rallies in Vikravandi and Madurai, attracting large crowds and solidifying TVK's position as a key player in Tamil Nadu's political scene.

He has been actively expanding his political influence, advocating for social justice, effective governance, and inclusive development.

Vijay's political philosophy is inspired by notable figures such as social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, freedom fighter Velu Nachiyar, and social activist Anjalai Ammal.

TVK contested the 2026 Assembly elections just two years after its inception, campaigning independently and directly appealing to voters for a mandate to instigate political change.

His campaign resonated with the electorate, with the party's whistle symbol becoming a recognizable feature during the election period.

The election results were historic for TVK, allowing Vijay to form the government and take the oath of office as Chief Minister on May 10.

This victory represents a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's political dynamics, marking Vijay's transition from a cinematic icon to a political leader.

As the Assembly session is currently in progress, legislators from both the ruling party and the Opposition are anticipated to convey their birthday wishes to the Chief Minister.

Additionally, reports suggest that Vijay may make a significant announcement in the Assembly today.
