Political Turmoil Surrounding Amit Shah's Statements

Rahul Gandhi vs Pralhad Joshi: The political landscape has become increasingly heated following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR). Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised questions about Shah's previous and current statements, targeting the BJP. In response, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi sharply countered Gandhi, asserting, 'The confusion lies with you, not us.'

Rahul Gandhi Questions Amit Shah's Statements

Gandhi took to the social media platform X to share two video clips of Amit Shah, one dated December 2025 and the other from November 2026. He criticized the Home Minister's statements and called for an open debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging Shah to prepare Modi for the discussion.

Pralhad Joshi's Response to Rahul Gandhi

Following Gandhi's video posts, Pralhad Joshi targeted the Congress leader, accusing him of selectively editing and misrepresenting Shah's statements. In a social media post, Joshi remarked that Gandhi's actions reveal a lack of preparation regarding the SIR. He stated, 'Rahul Ji, the confusion is yours, not ours!'

Joshi also challenged Gandhi to come to Parliament and debate with facts.

Criticism Over Election Losses

Joshi further criticized Gandhi regarding the Congress party's electoral defeats, pointing out that the party lost in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, during which the SIR was not in effect. He questioned whether Gandhi would take responsibility for these losses or blame external factors, accusing the opposition of questioning democratic institutions after electoral failures.

Debate Over SIR in Parliament

The controversy centers around the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list. Amit Shah recently suggested convening a special session of Parliament to discuss the SIR. However, in December 2025, he stated that direct discussions on the SIR were not feasible as it pertains to the Election Commission. Gandhi highlighted these conflicting statements to challenge the government.

The BJP contends that Gandhi is presenting the videos out of context, while Congress demands accountability from the government on this issue.

Call for Parliamentary Debate

Pralhad Joshi has urged Rahul Gandhi to engage in a debate in Parliament, emphasizing that discussions should be based on facts rather than political rhetoric. Following the exchange of statements between Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi regarding the SIR, the issue is likely to escalate in Parliament and political arenas, with both sides continuing to exchange accusations.
