Political Tensions Rise in Jharkhand Following Rajya Sabha Election Results
Political Fallout from Rajya Sabha Elections
Despite the ruling coalition's numerical strength in the assembly, the Congress candidate faced a significant defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections, igniting a blame game among leaders from Congress, RJD, and CPI (ML). The election results have revealed underlying rifts within the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand. Prior to the elections, clear disagreements emerged between JMM and Congress regarding candidate selection and political coordination, and the unexpected outcomes have further strained relationships among coalition partners, intensifying distrust.

Jharkhand Congress in-charge K. Raju accused JMM of providing full support to the Congress candidate, yet claimed that RJD and CPI(ML) betrayed the alliance. He stated that Congress secured all 16 votes along with four additional votes from JMM, totaling 20. However, he attributed the disappointing result to the treachery of RJD and CPI(ML). In response, RJD condemned Raju's remarks, labeling them as indicative of a petty mindset.
RJD MLA and Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav asserted that RJD is not deceitful like Congress and maintains its distinct identity. He expressed awareness of who prompted K. Raju to make such allegations against RJD legislators. Yadav also pointed out that he knows which Congress members sought opportunities with other parties before rejoining Congress. He emphasized that RJD operates according to its policies and principles, confirming that all four votes from RJD legislators went to Congress.

Yadav questioned how K. Raju, who was in constant contact with his own legislators, failed to recognize the actual situation. RJD General Secretary Bhola Yadav dismissed Congress's accusations, stating that RJD does not rely on Congress for its political maneuvers. He advised Congress to reflect before making statements and suggested that the party needs to engage in serious self-reflection before blaming others. CPI(ML) also categorically rejected Congress's claims, asserting that both of their legislators voted in favor of the INDIA alliance candidate.
