Political Tensions Rise as Uddhav Thackeray Meets Maharashtra CM Fadnavis
Uddhav Thackeray's Strategic Meeting with CM Fadnavis
Mumbai: On Thursday, Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), engaged in discussions with Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This meeting followed Fadnavis's intriguing invitation to Thackeray, which stirred political discussions across the state.
The encounter took place in the office of legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde and lasted approximately thirty minutes. Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Uddhav and a member of the legislative assembly from Worli, was also in attendance.
During a farewell event for Ambadas Danve, the leader of the opposition in the council, Fadnavis made a light-hearted comment suggesting that while the BJP would not be joining Thackeray in the opposition, he was welcome to join the ruling party.
"Uddhav ji, there is no possibility of a government change until 2029. We cannot shift to the opposition side, but you have the option to come here, and we can consider it differently," Fadnavis remarked.
The Shiv Sena, under Thackeray's leadership, had previously severed ties with the BJP following the 2019 assembly elections due to disagreements over the chief minister's position.
