Political Tensions Rise Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Political Climate Heating Up in Tamil Nadu
As Tamil Nadu gears up for the assembly elections scheduled on April 23, the political atmosphere is becoming increasingly intense. With just about eight days left for the end of the election campaign, concerns have arisen following actor Vijay's cancellation of several events.
Vijay's Canceled Events Raise Eyebrows
Vijay is contesting from two constituencies, Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. After filing his nomination on March 30, he engaged in campaigning in certain areas, but many significant events have since been called off. One such cancellation in Villivakkam was attributed to a lapse in police security.
Roadshows and Meetings Abandoned
In T. Nagar and Villivakkam, roadshows were scrapped due to time constraints. Meetings and events scheduled for April 9, 11, and 13 in Cuddalore and Tiruvallur were also canceled. The party has not provided any official explanation for these abrupt decisions.
Criticism from Opponents
The ruling DMK has launched a sharp critique of Vijay's absence from rallies, suggesting that he prefers to campaign from the comfort of his home rather than engaging with the public.
Udhayanidhi Stalin's Remarks
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin commented, 'While some leaders are tirelessly connecting with the public, others are campaigning intermittently.'
Pressure on TVK Workers
As Chief Minister MK Stalin, AIADMK's Palaniswami, and NTK's Seeman hold vigorous rallies across the state, Vijay's withdrawal has increased pressure on TVK workers. With the campaign deadline approaching, Vijay still needs to visit several districts, but the ongoing cancellations have cast uncertainty over his electoral strategy.
