Political Tensions Rise Ahead of Modi's Israel Visit Amid Controversy

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up for a two-day visit to Israel, political tensions in India have escalated. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's remarks about alleged genocide in Gaza have drawn a sharp rebuke from the BJP, which has accused her of selective outrage. The BJP spokesperson labeled her the 'female Ghajini' of Indian politics, suggesting she conveniently overlooks significant events. This controversy unfolds as Modi aims to strengthen defense and trade ties with Israel, marking his second visit in nine years. The political landscape is charged as both parties prepare for the implications of this high-profile trip.

Political Reactions to Modi's Upcoming Israel Trip

The political climate in India has intensified as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for a two-day visit to Israel. Following Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's remarks regarding alleged 'genocide' in Gaza, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce counterattack. The BJP has labeled Priyanka Gandhi as the 'female Ghajini' of Indian politics, accusing her of expressing 'convenient outrage.'

The 'Female Ghajini' Reference Explained

The term 'female Ghajini' draws inspiration from a character in the 2008 Hindi film 'Ghajini,' known for her short-term memory loss. The BJP claims that while Priyanka Gandhi acknowledges the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, she conveniently forgets the attacks on Israel that occurred on October 7.

Priyanka Gandhi's Critique of Modi

This controversy arises as Priyanka Gandhi criticized Modi before his departure, expressing hope that he would address the 'genocide' in Gaza during his speech to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, and advocate for justice for the victims. The Congress MP from Wayanad took to social media platform 'X' to assert that India must continue to illuminate the world with truth, peace, and justice.

BJP's Strong Response

In response to Priyanka's comments, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia took to 'X' to declare, 'The female Ghajini of Indian politics is back!' He shared an old photo of the Congress leader holding a bag labeled 'Palestine.' Bhatia criticized her for finding it easy to carry a bag with 'Palestine' written on it, yet failing to condemn the massacre of over 1,200 innocent people, including the abduction and rape of women, that occurred on October 7. He emphasized that denouncing such acts requires significant moral courage, which he believes Priyanka lacks.

Modi's Israel Visit Goals

Bhatia further stated, 'Even if you carry the Gandhi surname, you lack conviction and courage.' Modi's visit to Israel is set to begin on Wednesday, aiming to enhance bilateral defense and trade cooperation between the two nations. This marks his second trip to Israel in nine years.
