Major Defections from AAP to BJP

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a significant blow as three of its prominent leaders from Punjab, including Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, just ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Earlier in the day, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, a suspended AAP MLA and former IPS officer, announced his resignation from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

In a Facebook update, Singh, who represents the Amritsar North constituency, confirmed that he had submitted his resignation to Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.

Joining Singh in this political shift were fellow Punjab MLAs Chetan Singh Jouramajra and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who also made the transition to the BJP during a gathering with senior party officials at their headquarters.

Singh's departure from the Punjab Assembly follows the resignations of two other AAP legislators, Chetan Singh Jouramajra from Samana and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra from Sanour in Patiala district, who left the party the previous day.
