Recently, authorities in Singrauli district, adjacent to Madhya Pradesh, disclosed details surrounding the murder of 20-year-old Sandeep Yadav. This tragic incident occurred in Pokhara village, under the jurisdiction of the Bargawan police station. Investigations revealed that a dispute over a romantic relationship was the motive behind the crime. Law enforcement has apprehended four individuals, including Sandeep's girlfriend, her mother, and her brother.
According to police reports, the suspects lured Sandeep to their home, where he was first subjected to electric shock. Following this, he was brutally beaten with sticks, and a hatchet was used to sever one of his legs, leading to his death.
Details of the Incident
The incident unfolded in the village of Ghinha, where the girl and her family devised a plan to summon Sandeep under the pretense of a discussion. It was nighttime when Pooja called Sandeep, who arrived hoping for a resolution that might lead to their marriage. However, he was met not with conversation but with a horrifying plot. Upon his arrival, he was first electrocuted, and when he lost consciousness, he was attacked with a hatchet, resulting in the amputation of his leg. To conceal the crime, they disposed of his severed leg in the forest, attempting to make it appear as though he had been attacked by wild animals.
In the morning, villagers found Sandeep unconscious and rushed him to the hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Jabalpur for further treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Once the case reached the police, an investigation was initiated. With the assistance of the cyber cell, call records were examined, leading to suspicions against Pooja and her family. After rigorous questioning, the entire conspiracy was unveiled.
Authorities have arrested Pooja, her brother, mother, and uncle. They also seized the tools used in the crime, including the hatchet, electric wire, and mobile phones. On February 28, 2026, police received a report at 6:00 AM about Sandeep Yadav, a resident of Azadpur, found unconscious near a field in Pokhara village, with one leg severed and multiple injuries, including burn marks. Given the severity of the situation, charges of attempted murder were filed, and a dedicated team, including local SDOP Gaurav Pandey, SDOP Rahul Sayam, and DSP Roshni, was formed to investigate the case.
