Police Seize Truck with Illegal Forest Produce in Nurpur

In a decisive move against illegal forest product transportation, Nurpur Police seized a truck loaded with 270 tins of resin and arrested the driver. The operation, conducted during a routine traffic check, revealed that the driver lacked the necessary permits. Legal action has been initiated, and the investigation is ongoing. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities related to forest resources in the region.
 

Significant Seizure of Illegal Resin Transport


In a significant crackdown on the unlawful transport of forest products, authorities in Nurpur apprehended a truck loaded with 270 tins of resin (Viroja). The operation took place near the Kandwal Barrier on NH‑154A, where the driver was also arrested.


On the evening of October 4, 2026, during a standard traffic inspection, the team from Kandwal Police Post halted truck number HP38B‑6400, which was traveling from Jasur. Upon examination, officers discovered iron tins hidden beneath a yellow tarpaulin, each filled with resin. The driver was unable to provide any legitimate documentation for the cargo.


With the oversight of Forest Department officials, the total number of tins was confirmed to be 270, each with a capacity of 15 litres. The truck and its entire load were confiscated in accordance with legal protocols.


Suspect: Karan Manhas, son of Choor Singh Manhas, hailing from Vehi Pathiar, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.


Legal Proceedings: An FIR (No. 250/2026) has been filed at the Nurpur Police Station under Sections 41 & 42 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The suspect is in custody, and further inquiries are ongoing.


Items Recovered: 270 tins of resin (15 litres each) and truck number HP38B‑6400.
