Police Seize Heroin and Firearms in Rajasthan Drug Bust
Major Drug Trafficking Arrest in Hanumangarh
In a significant operation, law enforcement in Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan, apprehended two alleged traffickers and confiscated approximately ₹15 crore worth of heroin, along with two pistols manufactured in China and 14 cartridges. This information was disclosed by officials on Thursday.
The arrests occurred late Wednesday night during a patrol near Rohi Nagarana in the Sangaria police station area. The suspects were traveling in an SUV registered in Haryana and were reportedly en route to deliver the illicit cargo.
According to Hanumangarh's Superintendent of Police, Hari Shankar, the detained individuals are Bhupender Singh (43) from Bathinda, Punjab, and Nasir (23) from Deeg, Rajasthan. Authorities recovered around 3.08 kilograms of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, and 14 cartridges from a bag inside the vehicle.
The Superintendent noted that both suspects have a history of criminal activity and were allegedly operating under the direction of a handler based abroad. He stated, "Initial inquiries suggest that the narcotics and weapons were sourced from the Harike area in Punjab. Their mobile phones show frequent communication with international numbers."
Investigators suspect that the seized firearms and heroin were smuggled into India from Pakistan. The police are currently probing the role of the foreign handler and the broader trafficking network.
