Police Rescue 27 Minors from Child Labor in Jharkhand

In a significant operation, police in Jharkhand's Palamu district rescued 27 minors, including 14 girls, who were allegedly being taken to Bihar for labor. The children, aged 12 to 16, were freed following a tip-off to the District Child Protection Unit. After their rescue, the girls were sent to a safe center, while the boys were placed in a children's home. Legal actions are underway as authorities investigate the case further, highlighting the ongoing issue of child trafficking in the region.
 

Significant Rescue Operation in Palamu District

In a notable operation, law enforcement in Jharkhand's Palamu district successfully freed 27 minors who were allegedly being transported to Sasaram, Bihar, for rice planting work. The rescued children, aged between 12 and 16 years, include 14 girls.


Chiranjeevi Mandal, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Vishrampur, reported that the District Child Protection Unit of Palamu received a tip-off regarding the situation. Following this, the unit reached out to the police for assistance in rescuing the children. Acting on the information, police managed to secure the release of 14 children from the Padwa police station area and 13 from the Nawabazar police station area late Friday evening.


According to police reports, all the rescued minors are residents of the Manika police station area in the Latehar district. After their rescue, the girls were sent to a 'Sakhi One Stop Center' for their safety, while the boys were taken to a children's home. The District Child Welfare Committee has initiated legal proceedings in this case.


An additional official mentioned that the children were being taken to Bihar for labor in rice planting. Several individuals have been detained for further questioning regarding this matter. Meanwhile, Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, the Deputy Commissioner of Palamu, confirmed that a thorough investigation has commenced.
