Police Raid on IAS Officer's Farmhouse in Indore Leads to Arrests

In a significant police operation in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, 18 individuals were arrested at the farmhouse of IAS officer Vandana Vaidya on charges of illegal gambling. The raid, prompted by a tip-off, uncovered a substantial amount of cash and gambling materials. While some suspects fled, Vaidya has raised concerns about unauthorized entry into her property and requested further investigation. The police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused and suspended several officers involved in the case. This incident raises questions about security and oversight in the region.
 

Police Action in Indore

In Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, law enforcement officials conducted a raid on the farmhouse of IAS officer Vandana Vaidya, apprehending 18 individuals on allegations of illegal gambling. Vaidya currently serves as the Managing Director of the state's Financial Development Corporation. Acting on a tip-off, police targeted a farmhouse located approximately 50 kilometers from the district headquarters in Awalipura village during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. Authorities reported that while 18 suspects were detained, six others managed to escape the scene. During the operation, police seized 30 mobile phones, playing cards, and cash amounting to ₹13.68 lakh from the premises. The main entrance of the farmhouse was locked, while some individuals were reportedly engaged in gambling inside.


Legal Proceedings Initiated

Charges have been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Gambling Act. The primary suspect, Jagdish Rathore, also known as Kubda, who allegedly organized the gambling activities at the farmhouse, fled the scene along with caretaker Ranjit Chaudhary and others. Following the raid, Vaidya submitted a letter to the police, claiming that unidentified individuals had unlawfully entered her family's property and expressed concerns about potential theft. She requested that a separate criminal case be registered against those involved, according to reports from local media.


Investigation and Suspensions

Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia, the Superintendent of Rural Police, stated that an investigation will be conducted into Vaidya's complaint to determine how the intruders accessed the property. Additionally, the Station House Officer of Manpur Police Station, along with the beat in-charge sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector, have been suspended in connection with this incident.
