In Gurugram, Haryana, following the murder of a 22-year-old man, two police officers have been suspended amid allegations of negligence. A senior police official confirmed that Head Constable Ashok and Constable Vinod were the officers involved. The family of the deceased, identified as Sagar, claimed that timely police intervention could have prevented the escalation of the dispute that led to his death.


Details of the Dispute

According to officials, Sagar's father, Munnilal, filed a complaint with the police on August 3 after an alleged altercation with a local resident named Sachet, also known as Munna. Sagar had returned to his village from Bengaluru on August 6, accompanied by his brother and other relatives, when they were attacked.


The Attack

Reports indicate that a group armed with weapons, including Sachet, forcibly entered Sagar's home and assaulted the family. During the altercation, one assailant reportedly fired a shot with the intent to kill, striking Sagar. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.


Legal Actions Taken

Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Farrukh Nagar police station. Sagar's family contended that had the police acted promptly after the initial dispute, the fatal attack could have been avoided. A team from the crime branch has since arrested nine individuals from Azadgarh in Rohtak in connection with the case.


Arrests Made

Among those arrested are Om, Vinay Kumar, and Sahil from Jhajjar district; Gautam, Ashwini, Mandeep (also known as Dippy), Anush (also known as Chinu), and Sunil (also known as Abhishek or Khota) from Sonipat district; and Sachet from Gurugram. A senior official confirmed the suspension of the two police officers for their alleged inaction, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
