Police Officer Killed in Drug Raid in Manipur

A police officer tragically lost his life during a drug enforcement operation in Manipur's Thoubal district. The officer was attacked by a suspect, leading to severe injuries and his subsequent death at the hospital. Former Chief Minister N. Tragic Incident During Drug Enforcement Operation

In Thoubal district of Manipur, a police officer was fatally stabbed during an operation aimed at combating drug trafficking. Authorities confirmed the incident on Thursday. According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when a police commando team conducted a raid in Moijing Khongkok, leading to the detention of 25-year-old Mohammad Naobi and another individual. While being interrogated, Naobi unexpectedly attacked constable Khoirom Suresh with a knife, inflicting severe injuries. Both suspects managed to escape the scene. Khoirom was rushed to the district hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 9:15 PM. Following an extensive search operation, the main suspect, Mohammad Naobi, was apprehended on Thursday morning at approximately 8:45 AM.


Former Chief Minister Expresses Condolences

Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed profound sorrow over the officer's death. In a Facebook post, he stated that he was deeply saddened and disturbed by the news of the police commando's death due to a knife attack by a drug trafficker during the operation in Moijing Khongkok. He emphasized that this incident is not only tragic but also a source of shame for society as a whole. Singh called for severe punishment for those responsible for this heinous act.
