Bribery Incident in Cuttack
On Sunday, officials from the vigilance department apprehended a police officer in Cuttack city while he was accepting a bribe from a licensed liquor vendor. This information was confirmed by the authorities.
The arrested officer has been identified as Bijay Kumar Barik, who serves as the station in-charge at the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) police station in Cuttack.
According to reports, the vigilance department acted on a tip-off and caught Barik red-handed as he was receiving a bribe of ₹40,000 in exchange for allowing the liquor vendor to operate smoothly.
The bribe money was seized from Barik, and officials also conducted searches at two of his locations. During these searches, approximately ₹500,000 in cash was recovered from his government residence located in Unit-1, Bhubaneswar. A case has been registered against the police officer in connection with this incident.
