Police Investigate Video of Homemade Bomb Explosion Linked to Leftist Groups
Investigation Launched After Bomb Video Posted
Authorities have initiated an investigation following the posting of a video allegedly depicting a homemade bomb explosion on a social media account that supports leftist parties. The police provided this update on Monday.
According to reports, the Kannur Cyber Police filed the case on Sunday based on a report submitted by the special branch of the Kerala Police to the Kannur Police Commissioner.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that a reel was shared on an Instagram account named Red Army Kannur, showcasing scenes of the bomb explosion.
Threatening Comments Spark Concerns
The FIR indicates that members of the Marxist Communist Party (CPI-M) and the Muslim League exchanged threatening comments on the reel, which is seen as an attempt to incite riots.
The Kannur Cyber Police noted that this reel emerged following incidents of violence between United Democratic Front (UDF) and Left Democratic Front (LDF) workers after the local body election results in various parts of the district.
Police to Verify Authenticity of the Video
Law enforcement officials stated they would reach out to Meta to obtain details about the operator of the Red Army Kannur account and to verify whether the explosion depicted in the video actually occurred.
The police confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 192 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for inciting riots.
