With the arrival of 2026, police forces nationwide are making cyber crime prevention a top priority. In light of increasing digital fraud cases, law enforcement agencies, including those in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, are launching intensified operations. Focus on Cyber Crime Prevention

As the new year 2026 begins, law enforcement agencies across the nation have prioritized the fight against cyber crimes. In response to the rising incidents of digital fraud, arrest scams, and investment scams, cyber units from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and other states have ramped up their operations. According to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), millions of cyber fraud cases were reported in 2025, resulting in losses amounting to billions of rupees. The emphasis for 2026 will be on raising awareness and implementing stricter measures.


Key Updates:

Delhi Police's Strategy: Special Commissioner Devesh Chandra Srivastava announced that 'Operation Cyber Hawk' will be conducted regularly and intensively throughout 2026. This operation led to thousands of arrests and the recovery of hundreds of crores in 2025. Additionally, a State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C) will be established.


National Initiatives: Under the I4C, the 'Cyber Commando' program, awareness campaigns, and the helpline 1930 are being strengthened. As the new year approaches, individuals are advised to be cautious of fake New Year wishes received via WhatsApp/SMS, as these may contain APK files that can steal data.
