Dramatic Police Encounter in Khagaria
A police operation in Khagaria district, Bihar, late Tuesday night resulted in a dramatic encounter with infamous criminal Mohammad Buddhin, sending shockwaves through the area. Buddhin, who had a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head, opened fire on the Special Task Force (STF) and local police team that had come to apprehend him, leading to his injury during the exchange.
According to reports, the Bihar STF received a tip-off about Buddhin's presence in the Beldaur region of Khagaria with several accomplices. In response, a joint team of STF and local police initiated a blockade in the area. Upon noticing the police, Buddhin attempted to flee and began shooting.
Police officials stated that Buddhin fired multiple rounds, prompting the police to return fire. During the confrontation, Buddhin sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and fell to the ground. The police quickly apprehended him, while some of his associates managed to escape into the darkness.
Authorities recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene following the encounter. A rifle, a homemade firearm, and a significant quantity of live cartridges were seized, and investigations into the recovered weapons are underway.
Records indicate that Mohammad Buddhin is considered one of Bihar's top criminals, with over 14 criminal cases against him, including murder, robbery, extortion, kidnapping, and illegal possession of firearms. The police had been searching for him for an extended period, offering a reward for his capture.
The Khagaria police reported that Buddhin was operating a substantial criminal network in the area and was suspected of involvement in several recent criminal activities. Interrogations are currently being conducted to gather information about his gang and associates.
Following the encounter, a heavy police presence was established in the area, sparking discussions among local residents. Many praised the police's actions, noting the long-standing fear of criminals in the community.
In recent months, police actions against criminals in Bihar have intensified, with the government adopting a strict stance on ongoing encounters and arrests. Police officials have stated that operations against organized crime and wanted criminals will continue.
