In a dramatic late-night encounter in Fatehpur district, police clashed with a wanted criminal who had a bounty of ₹1 lakh on his head. The operation took place near the Sasu Khaderi River in the Khaga police station area, where officers successfully cornered Bablu Singh, a long-time fugitive. During the exchange of fire, the suspect sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and collapsed. The police team on-site promptly arrested him and rushed him to the hospital.


Criminal Background of Bablu Singh

Bablu Singh, son of Dharmaraj alias Manna Singh, hails from Garhi town in the Khaga area of Fatehpur. He was wanted in serious criminal cases, including gang wars and threats, and had been on the run for quite some time. The police had declared a reward of ₹1 lakh for information leading to his capture.

This significant operation was carried out by a joint team from Khaga, Hathgaon, and Thariyawan police stations, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG). Upon receiving a tip-off about the criminal hiding in the forest area, the police quickly cordoned off the region. As the suspect realized he was surrounded, he opened fire on the police, prompting them to retaliate. During the encounter, he was shot in both legs.


Seized Weapons and Cash

Authorities recovered an illegal 315 bore firearm, four spent cartridges, one live cartridge lodged in the gun, and ₹1600 in cash from the arrested individual. According to police officials, Bablu Singh was wanted in case number 115/26 registered at the Khaga police station, and the reward for his capture was announced by the Additional Director General of Police for the Prayagraj zone.
