Police Arrest Three Youths in Bilaspur for Drug Trafficking

In a significant operation against drug trafficking, law enforcement in Bilaspur district apprehended three young men from Mandi after seizing 7.29 grams of heroin on the Kiratpur–Nerchowk four-lane near Patta.
As per police reports, a team from the Sadar Police Station established a routine checkpoint on the four-lane as part of their ongoing efforts to combat narcotics smuggling. During the vehicle inspection, a car traveling from the Kiratpur direction was halted for examination, revealing three young males inside.
Upon questioning, the suspects exhibited signs of nervousness, which raised the officers' suspicions. A subsequent search uncovered 7.29 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as “chitta,” leading to their immediate arrest.
The detained individuals have been identified as Tujender Kumar (25) from Lamba Thach in Thunag tehsil, Bhupender (19) from Marot in Gohar under Chachyot tehsil, and Yashpal (18) from Mandap in Bassi under Chachyot tehsil, all hailing from Mandi district.
Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur, Sandeep Dhawal, confirmed the incident, stating that a case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drugs and their intended destination.
Authorities have indicated that enhanced checks are being conducted on the four-lane due to an increase in drug-related incidents. They have reaffirmed their dedication to taking stringent measures against those involved in drug trafficking.
