Abhijit Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach People's Party (CJP), has raised questions regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for forgiveness towards students who used offensive language against him during a protest at Jantar Mantar. He inquired whether this message of compassion would also lead to the withdrawal of cases filed against the students. In a social media post reacting to a video of the Prime Minister taking selfies, Dipke asked, "Will you only forgive on social media, or will you also drop the cases?"

PM Modi Addresses the Controversy

In a video shared on his official Instagram and X accounts, PM Modi expressed his thoughts following the incident involving a 15-year-old protester from Noida, who faced charges for using derogatory language. He remarked, "Today, I feel compelled to speak with you. The nation and the world witnessed what transpired at Jantar Mantar. Some mischievous youths resorted to very crude and abusive language, which is unacceptable in any civilized society. I was personally insulted, and there were also disrespectful remarks made about my late mother. It was truly a shameful sight."

A Call for Understanding and Forgiveness

Acknowledging the public's anger over the incident, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of guiding young individuals who make mistakes rather than condemning them forever. He stated that while the students had strayed from the right path, they should be given a chance to reform. PM Modi also spoke against prolonged legal battles and social ostracism, asserting that punishing them or entangling them in court proceedings would not change the situation. "I want to forgive them, and society should also accept this," he added.

Criticism of Selective Law Enforcement

Dipke had previously criticized the police's actions, accusing authorities of selectively enforcing the law. In a video shared by CJP on X, he questioned, "If you are filing cases for abusive language, when will cases be filed against those from the BJP IT cell who have been using derogatory language towards women online for years?"
