PM Modi Launches Major Infrastructure Projects in Punjab

On July 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched over ₹5,470 crores in rail and road infrastructure projects in Jalandhar, reaffirming the central government's dedication to Punjab's growth. He inaugurated 75 newly developed railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and introduced new train services to enhance regional connectivity. Modi praised local community efforts in cleanliness initiatives and paid tribute to Sikh leader Sardar Teja Singh Samundri. The Prime Minister highlighted the government's focus on improving citizens' lives through better infrastructure and public services, while also criticizing past administrations for neglecting the Indian Railways.
 

Significant Infrastructure Developments in Punjab

On July 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for over ₹5,470 crores worth of rail and road infrastructure projects in Jalandhar. He reaffirmed the central government's commitment to Punjab's development, regardless of the state's political leadership. As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, he launched 75 newly developed railway stations across 20 states, including the Jalandhar Cantt railway station, and introduced new train services to enhance connectivity in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.


Celebrating Development in Jalandhar

During a public event, PM Modi expressed that Jalandhar is celebrating development today. He had the opportunity to launch the country's first hydrogen train from Jind and laid the foundation for a grand Sikh museum in Kurukshetra. Despite the absence of a BJP government in Punjab, he emphasized the unwavering commitment of the NDA government to the state's progress.


Community Involvement and Tribute

He praised the local community's involvement in the cleanliness campaign, particularly commending the residents of Jalandhar for making the initiative more meaningful through the 'Cleanliness with Welcome' program. PM Modi also paid tribute to Sikh leader Sardar Teja Singh Samundri on the centenary of his martyrdom, recognizing him as a 'great son of Punjab' who dedicated his life to serving the nation and protecting the interests of Sikhs during British rule.


Government's Commitment to Infrastructure

Highlighting the government's approach, PM Modi stressed the importance of improving citizens' lives through better infrastructure and public services. He stated that the priority of the BJP-led central government is to serve every citizen, simplify their lives, and create new opportunities, adhering to the mantra 'Citizens are God.' Criticizing previous governments for the state of Indian Railways, he noted that it serves the poor and middle-class families, while the Congress government before 2014 made false announcements about new trains and neglected railway stations.


Key Projects Inaugurated

Among the major projects inaugurated were the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli railway line, costing approximately ₹830 crores, and new train services for Kartoli-Ambala and Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi. Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for national highway projects exceeding ₹3,070 crores, including a section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and the southern Ludhiana bypass. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed the event, stating that the Prime Minister inaugurated 75 Amrit stations across 20 states. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, redevelopment is underway for 1,300 stations, with 261 stations already completed and 350 expected to be finished by the end of this year.
