During a recent address at the India-Canada CEOs Forum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an interesting comparison between T20 cricket and the business relationships between India and Canada. He commended Canada's participation in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and expressed India's eagerness for dynamic and bold collaborations with Canada to foster mutual growth, encouraging CEOs to be part of India's developmental journey.

Canada at the T20 World Cup

In the ongoing T20 World Cup held in India and Sri Lanka, Canada faced significant challenges. They were placed in Group D, competing against South Africa, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and New Zealand. Unfortunately, Canada did not secure any points during the group stage, losing all four matches. Nevertheless, they showcased competitive spirit, particularly in their games against New Zealand and the UAE.

Yuvraj Samra: A Standout Performer

Yuvraj Samra emerged as a key player for Canada in the tournament, accumulating 144 runs across four matches with an average of 36.00, including a remarkable century against New Zealand. At just 19 years and 141 days, he became the youngest male cricketer to score a century in any World Cup format. Since his debut in 2025, Samra has played 19 T20Is for Canada, amassing 569 runs at an average of 37.93 and a strike rate of 161.18, featuring one century and three fifties, with a top score of 110.
