PM Modi Highlights Safe Return of Indians Amid West Asia Conflict
Prime Minister's Address on Indian Safety
New Delhi, March 23: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that over 375,000 Indians have safely returned to India from various West Asian countries, including around 1,000 from Iran. He reiterated his government's dedication to providing all necessary support to those affected.
During his speech in the Lok Sabha regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of this region for India, noting that approximately ten million Indians reside and work in Gulf nations.
He added, "The presence of a substantial number of Indian crew members on commercial vessels in these waters heightens our concerns."
Addressing the measures taken by the government to ensure the safety of Indians caught in the conflict, PM Modi stated, "Since the onset of this war, every Indian in the impacted regions has received essential assistance. I have personally communicated with the leaders of most West Asian nations twice, and they have all guaranteed the safety of Indians."
"Regrettably, some individuals have lost their lives, and others have sustained injuries during this period. We are providing necessary support to families affected by these tragedies. The injured are receiving the best possible medical care. Our missions in the affected areas are actively assisting Indians, whether they are workers or tourists. We are committed to offering every possible help," he continued.
"The safety and security of Indians, both domestically and internationally, has always been our utmost priority in any crisis situation," the Prime Minister remarked.
Since the conflict began, PM Modi noted that more than 375,000 Indians have returned home, with nearly 1,000 coming back from Iran, including over 700 medical students.
He also highlighted the significant number of students enrolled in Indian schools in Gulf countries, stating that in light of the conflict, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has canceled the upcoming Class 10 and 12 examinations in these schools. "CBSE is implementing measures to ensure that the education of these students continues without interruption," he added.
"The government remains sensitive, alert, and prepared to provide any necessary assistance," PM Modi concluded.
