Jaipur, July 4: During a recent event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India effectively navigated the energy crisis caused by the West Asian conflict through timely decisions, adept diplomacy, and careful resource management.
While inaugurating a state-of-the-art integrated refinery and petrochemical facility in Pachpadra, located in Rajasthan's Balotra district, Modi remarked that the ongoing conflict in West Asia has led to the most significant energy crisis of the 21st century, yet India's resolve has allowed it to tackle this challenge successfully.
He stated, "The turmoil from the West Asian war has resulted in a global energy crisis. Many nations are currently facing fuel shortages. However, the determination and efforts of New India have helped us overcome these challenges."
Modi highlighted that India made crucial decisions at every juncture and managed its resources effectively during this crisis.
"India assessed the situation accurately and formulated a strategic response, ensuring a balanced use of resources. Our diplomatic efforts played a vital role in overcoming the crisis," he added.
He noted that the government's intervention was instrumental in preventing a significant increase in domestic cooking gas prices.
"Had it not been for our management, domestic gas prices could have soared to Rs 2,000. Thanks to the Union government's actions, cylinders are currently priced around Rs 950," he explained.
Modi also pointed out the financial strain on the Union government, revealing that oil marketing companies faced losses of Rs 75,000 crore on petrol and diesel from April to June.
"This loss was substantial enough to fund a new refinery, and it was absorbed by the government," he stated.
He credited India's foreign policy for ensuring a steady supply of fuel despite global disruptions.
"Our relationships with other nations proved crucial during the conflict, with the number of countries supplying fuel to India increasing from 25-26 to 40. Our diplomatic strength was clearly demonstrated during this period," he remarked.
Modi asserted that the behind-the-scenes efforts of the Union government during the crisis would be remembered in history.
"While some were spreading fear and rumors, our team worked tirelessly to manage the situation. The strategies, hard work, and careful steps taken will eventually be documented in history," he said.
He reiterated the commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to complete projects rather than just announce them.
"Today is a testament that BJP governments do not merely lay foundation stones and abandon projects. We are dedicated to ensuring their completion," he concluded.
