Prime Minister Modi's Interaction with Students

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his Assam visit by boarding a cruise on the Brahmaputra River, where he interacted with students during the 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' program. A total of 25 students from various schools across Assam participated in this event.

Cruise Details and Security Measures

According to officials, Modi was aboard the three-decked 'MV Charidev II' cruise. He arrived at the Guwahati Gateway Terminal for inland water transport (IWT) and accessed the ship via a floating bridge, which was recently inaugurated by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Enhanced Security for the Event

Officials reported that security in the area has been significantly heightened. Police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have been patrolling the river since early morning.

Suspension of Ferry Services

In light of Modi's visit, ferry services on the Brahmaputra River have been suspended for two days starting Saturday. Students from various districts, including Kamrup Metropolitan, Marigaon, Dibrugarh, Cachar, and others, participated in the program.

Diverse Participation from Schools

The event saw participation from students of government, residential, and private schools, including Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, PM Shri School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Assam Ethnic School, Don Bosco Institute, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.

Impact of Previous Visits

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma previously noted that following Modi's visit to Kaziranga last year, there was a surge in tourist numbers, and a similar increase in river tourism is anticipated. The 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' initiative has been held annually since 2018, aimed at helping students cope with exam pressure and promoting a balance between studies and mental health.
