PM Modi's Strong Criticism of DMK in Tamil Nadu

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce critique against the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, asserting that the party's aspirations for a return to power would turn into a "nightmare," while the NDA is poised to form the next government in the state. Addressing a public gathering in Madurai, he emphasized the significance of the upcoming assembly elections as a pivotal moment for Tamil Nadu.

Modi accused the DMK of corruption and poor waste management in the city, which has severely impacted Madurai's national cleanliness ranking. He expressed confidence in the AIADMK-BJP alliance's victory, stating that the massive rally showcased the people's resolve to oust the DMK from power.

He remarked that while some individuals dream of regaining power in Tamil Nadu, witnessing the NDA's rally would shatter those dreams. The election is a decisive turning point for the state, and the populace has made up its mind to remove the DMK, recognizing that only the NDA can bring about the necessary change.

Reflecting on the 2021 elections, Modi noted that after 25 years, the DMK secured a majority but failed to deliver good governance. Instead, they exploited the state and promoted dynastic politics. He highlighted Madurai's historical connection with M.G. Ramachandran, stating that the DMK has never favored the city, bringing in mafia-like politics that resulted in poor drainage and waste management, ultimately dragging Madurai to the bottom of the national cleanliness rankings and forcing the mayor to resign due to corruption.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited the Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple and met with the family of devotee Poornachandran, who self-immolated over the Karthikai Deepam controversy. Criticizing the DMK's opposition to the Madras High Court's ruling that allowed devotees to light formal lamps at the top of the Tirupparankundram hill, he declared that "truth and Lord Murugan will prevail."
