PM Modi Critiques Congress for Hindering Puducherry's Development

During a recent event in Puducherry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party, claiming it has obstructed the region's progress. He pointed out that under Congress's governance, issues like corruption, crime, and the suffering of the poor were rampant. Modi emphasized that the dual-engine NDA government would accelerate development in Puducherry.
He remarked that the previous Congress-DMK administration caused significant hardships for the residents, marked by political instability, allegations of corruption, rising crime rates, and neglect of the underprivileged.

Modi recalled his earlier visit when he introduced the slogan 'Best Puducherry', which encompasses trade, education, spirituality, and tourism. He noted that this vision has been fruitful over the past four and a half years, leading to good governance and development in the region. The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for several development projects worth ₹2,700 crores aimed at enhancing infrastructure, urban services, industrial growth, education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
He stated that these initiatives would transform the lives of Puducherry's residents. In a post on X, he expressed his joy at being among the wonderful people of Puducherry, announcing the launch of various development projects that would improve living standards and boost economic growth in the area. Key initiatives included the launch of e-buses under the PM e-Bus service initiative, an integrated command and control center under the Smart City Mission, housing for economically weaker sections under the CITIIS initiative, and significant projects in the sewage and water supply sectors by the Puducherry government. He also inaugurated the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Block and Ganga Hostel at the National Institute of Technology in Karaikal.

Modi highlighted the government's commitment to building high-quality infrastructure across India, stating that increased funding for infrastructure translates to better roads, water supply, coastal infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and numerous other projects. These facilities directly enhance the quality of life for citizens. He expressed confidence that Puducherry could become a hub for medical tourism, noting that the region already has nine medical colleges. The modernization of the regional cancer center at JIPMER will further expand healthcare capacity. Today, the foundation stone for three critical care blocks for severely ill patients was also laid under the PM-Abhim project.
